I watched the video on Democracy vs. Republic. While everything
on there is true, it's missing a critical point about America's
unique republic. Call this a pet peave(sp) of mine, but being a
Christian that has studied both secular history, and history
through the prism of church history; especially American
history, it has always bothered me what is always glossed over
in that governmental analysis. Even great conservatives, that
are indeed committed Christians, like Rush, and Sean Hannity
seem to brush over this fact more often than not.
My contention is that what REALLY made America unique was the
fact that probably 80% of our Constitution was extracted
straight out of Deuteronomy, which is where God essentially
laid out His universal moral standards, AND His ordained
concept of government. Even more to the point in our case, is
that our Constitution was the first to recognize that there
were inestimable, and inalienable rights that could ONLY be
given by God. The other fine point that the founders made sure
to exclaim is that this was NOT to be a country of religiosity,
or a theocracy, but to constantly give thanks and
acknowledgment to God for His faithfulness, and blessings. I
mean, even Rome was deeply religious. In fact, I think it is
oh so typically liberal hypocrisy that Rome (and modern-day
libs) held itself up to be such an "objective secular" nation;
yet they spent gajillions on temples that were dedicated to
"mythological" gods. Do you realize what that means? In other
words, it'd be like us worshiping Disneyland, and Mickey Mouse,
that is if those gods were truly mythical, as they claim. If
they were myths why build such monuments to them? So, our
Christian world view is indeed what made America unique.
I certainly hope I don't sound condescending; especially in the
company of so many great patriots that are stepping up to the
plate. I just don't want to see USA go the way of Rome. Also,
I really don't mean to sound Obama creepy, but I would hope
that if conservatives can take the country back that we re-
introduce the New England Primer back into the education system
that uses our Christian heritage to educate.
Thanks for letting me vent.
God Bless,
George Lea
